The Sunday before Josh left for Iraq on September 15, he told me that he had to help his brother set up a deer stand at their family farm. He wanted to come and pick me up at my parent’s house afterward and take me back out there to ride 4-wheelers.

I wasn’t in the mood to go, but my dad (who already knew what was coming) convinced me to go. After riding around on the farm for 20 minutes, he took me to the lower field. The grass was up high, but as we turned the corner, I saw that he had mowed out an area and set up a table with pictures of us, wine, candles, and a dozen roses. At this point, I was surprised but only thought he was doing something nice for me since he was leaving in a few days; a proposal was the furthest thought from my mind.

I turned around and he was pulling a beautiful tiny box out of the back of the 4-wheeler. He told me that for the past few months he had been lying to me about wanting to get married to throw me off from what he was about to do.

He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was giggling so much because I was so nervous, but I said “YES!” with no hesitation. In that box was the most beautiful ring I have ever seen and I can’t beleive that he did it all on his own. What an amazing man and an amazing proposal. The proposal spot means so much to him, as it is his most favorite spot to be in the entire world. Although we won’t be together again until next September, I can’t wait to marry the man of my dreams!

Just wanted to say thank you to Denney Jewelers for making the whole thing possible. I hated to do it right before I left, but Maria deserves the best. I am SOO happy she likes her ring. I was amazed the first time I put my eyes on it. Things are going well over here, but I miss her more and more everyday. I cannot wait for the day I get to come home and finally start our life together. Thanks so much.... I love you Maria!

These 2 lovebirds have been together 4 yrs now, and separated by 2 tours of duty in Iraq by our wonderful son-in-law-to-be! We are so proud of all they have been through to be together, and are so happy for them on their engagement. Josh picked out the perfect ring for Maria and is the most beautiful ring we have ever seen! Thanks to Denney Jewelers for taking very good care of Josh and Maria! We think they should be chosen for the "couple" of the year!
